The illustrated

Oh how I adore the illustrated. Definitely one of my favorite specialty areas in the arts. Though some illustrations can be very technical, the majority tend to take me back to my childhood. I love this. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be transported back to the days of innocent doodling, wandering imaginations and pencils with top erasers. For me, the process usually does start with a pencil or sharpie. It may progress to my scanner, which in turn progresses farther on my computer, or maybe a more hands-on approach using collaging, paint, or whatever I can find. This is the best part, really no rules.

So years back, while studying art education, a wonderful lady called me up and asked if I would illustrate a series of children’s book she had written for her daughters. I probably had no right getting myself into this, seeing I only had fine art experience and no real page layout, book creating, design software experience, but I thought why not? (So designers reading this, please forgive me for my type choices….I won’t mention them). Three books are completed and more are in the works. If you have any interest in browsing or even picking one up you can visit our site by clicking on kSlice illustrates to your right. They are cute little board books.

Ok, so that’s about enough for now. I’ll leave you with a few of my favorites and a page from one of the children’s books…enjoy!
